Activities and Interests

GRIND seminar series.

Due to the lack of a seminar series that represented the research interests of our labs, Caroline Hoppe and myself developed the GRIND (Gene regulation, Imaging and Network Dynamics.) seminar series. The aim of this series was to present incomplete work and stories and encourage discussion between labs with similar interests in quantitate analysis of gene expression.

President of the Postgraduate Society.

I was the President of the Postgraduate Society, FBMH, University of Manchester 2017.

Conference organiser.

During my Masters and PhD I was a member of the faculty postgraduate society. One of the events I was involved with every year was the organisation and execution of the Postgrad Conference. This was a conference for students from Manchester and other Universities to present their work in a friendly environment to other students.

Public engagement.

Throughout my time at Manchester I have been involved in the public engagement activities of the lab. I have also, as part of public engagement training, developed and delivered a public engagement activity at the Universities “Science Spectacular”.

Photography.

Photography has been my main hobby since 2006. I really enjoy capturing moments and getting deep into the technical side of photography and the equipment. This has also meant I have been lab photographer on our various lab retreats.
